About the Department:
The aims of the department are to develop language proficiency, to create enthusiasm for literature, and to cultivate humane intellect by reading literature.
The department was established on 12 October 2008 as one of the pioneer departments of the then "Rangpur University".

Programs and Facilities:
A 4 year semester system (2 semesters per year) of teaching and letter grade system of evaluation is introduced at the B.A (Hon's) level from the very first batch of students having the academic session 2008-2009.
The Dept. possesses a rich seminar library and also provides ample opportunities for extra-curricular activities through different clubs and societies like the one "English Cultural Society".
